Rural development means that the development of the living standard of all the people, especially the poor families living in the village.  To meet the needs of their basic needs (food, health, education, clothing, and housing) is called rural development.  Since 75% of the population lives in the village, the economic prosperity of Bangladesh lies in the development of rural development.

 In order to achieve the overall development of the rural people of Bangladesh, a multi-purpose program has been taken in government and non-governmental initiatives.  In this case, the work of the unemployed is also involved.  The government is more active in physical infrastructure development, such as roads, dams, markets, school-madrasas, health centers, etc.  Private organizations provide various types of support to the target group, such as landless, women and youth, in rural areas.  Co-operation involves group-based debt distribution, income tax increase, and training.  Besides, the Union level digital center has provided a new dimension to the information-technology-based center 'Union Digital Center' established in the Union Parishad.  On November 11, 2010, the Honorable Prime Minister inaugurated the Union Digital Center (UDC) in one of the union parishads across the country through its Video Conference from its office and from New Delhi's former Prime Minister and Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Mrs. Helen Clark Bhola district's Char Kukrimukuri Union.  Whose main goal is to turn the Union Council into a strong organization so that these institutions can play an important role in establishing an information and knowledge-based country by 2021.  With the establishment of the Union Digital Center, ordinary citizens are now getting easy public, private and non-governmental services of nearly 60 types of easy, low cost and hassle-free.  Organizations directly involved in rural development in our country are the departments of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Departments, Rural Development Board, Rural Electrification Board, Water Development Board, etc.

 As part of the development of the rural working population, in 2016-17, the state-owned commercial and specialized banks have calculated their customized targets and 2% of net loans and advances of private and foreign banks, and accounted for 5% of total net and advance of last 9 private banks, 17 thousand  Agriculture and Rural Credit Policy, with a target of disbursing a loan of 550 crore taka  Bangladesh Bank has announced that LA, 1 thousand 150 crore, which is higher than the 201516 fiscal year.  In the fiscal year 2015-2016, a total of 34,26,130 agricultural and rural loans were received, out of which 15,19,578 females totaling about 4,480.50 crores and about 2.6 million farmers from different banks, through bank own network and MFI linkage.  Taka 120.09 billion got agricultural and rural credit.  In addition, 14,916 public loan distribution programs distributed among the 1.48 lakh farmers, public and rural loans of about 518.71 crores publicly.  Without a CIB report, in the year 2016-17, a farmer can take a loan of up to Tk 2.5 lakh, without any CIB report, before the limit was 1.5 lakh.  At the same time, instructions for settlement of loan application within 10 days have been issued.  Must be a good initiative for the development of poor people of the rural areas.

Since 2010, the government has taken steps to distribute free textbooks up to the secondary level.  The traffic system is being improved due to the construction of roads in rural areas through the Local Government Engineering Department.  The Bangladesh Rural Development Board (Bird) has identified the socio-economic problems of the people in the rural areas of Bangladesh and initiates the solution.  Various fruitful research and activities related to agriculture, cooperative, poverty, microcredit, rural physical infrastructure, rural industries, development communication, good governance, gender, environmental development, local government, population control, quality of education, health-nutrition, social change, etc.  Has been operating
